The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) has launched the NACC Training Academy to strengthen its support of its members and the care catering sector.
Neel Radia, the NACC’s national chair, officially launched the new initiative to members on the morning of Thursday 4th October as he opened the NACC Training & Develop Forum 2018.
The progressive, ongoing training programme has been specifically designed for the care catering sector. A relevant mix of NACC-endorsed courses, delivered by experts via training workshops and webinars, will support the association’s members and care catering professionals in the workplace. They will give them the tools and confidence to gain new skills and knowledge, keep up to date with the latest developments in the sector, and deliver continued excellence.
The first courses to be delivered as part of the NACC Training Academy take place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham, on 20 and 21 November 2018. The important topics being covered are: International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) – How to manage choking risks and meet your IDDSI obligations (20 November); Managing staff performance (20 November); CQC: Providing outstanding nutritional care and complying with CQC standards (21 November); and How to manage a team of chefs with effective communication (21 November).
The NACC Training Academy will deliver further specialist care catering courses across the country and these will include allergens, texture modification, fortification, dementia and dysphagia. Other topics to be covered include chef skills, food safety, dining skills and front of house, and nutrition and hydration.
Neel Radia said: “It’s fantastic to launch the NACC Training Academy to our members and the wider care catering sector. Having listened to our members it was clear that ongoing, relevant training is very important to them. We’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes to create the academy to take the training and support we offer to the next level.
“It’s really important that our members and the sector have continued access to the right training tools and up-to-date, tailored information to enable them to continue to do the very best in their roles and ensure excellence in care catering. The NACC Training Academy does just this. All our courses are delivered by experts in their field and endorsed by the NACC, giving delegates reassurance of quality. We’re very excited about the future of the academy and encourage everyone to make the most of the training and development it offers.”
