Glen Care is investing in a new Women’s Challenging Behaviour and Complex Needs Service at its Langford Centre site in Bexhill on Sea.
The new service is designed to offer a care pathway for women with complex mental health problems, including Borderline Personality Disorder, self-harming, agitated and aggressive behaviours.
It caters for those whose condition has required prolonged hospitalisation with a step-down locked rehab unit offering a route to more independent living. The clinical team is experienced in assessing and managing complex needs, often succeeding where others have failed.
Glen Care has taken a strategic decision to move away from low secure forensic services into developing further residential community-based and non-secure services, into which the company is making a considerable investment. It will concentrate on complex needs women services, complex needs learning disability services and services for neuropsychiatric conditions including young onset dementia, stroke and acquired brain injury disorders.
Glen Care’s medical director Dr Andres Fonseca said: “This service will specialise in treating resistant complex cases, including those with personality disorder traits. Our philosophy of care puts the woman at the centre and is designed to work collaboratively with carers, commissioners and other stakeholders.”
