In East Sussex, members of the Seaford Martello Women’s Institute (WI) have designed and produced over 30 twiddle muffs especially for the residents of Clifden House, specialist dementia care centre, in Seaford.
Twiddle muffs have buttons, ribbons and other items attached so that a person with dementia can occupy their hands. They are also a great source of visual stimulation and keep hands warm.
Nial Joyce, of Clifden House, said: “We are very grateful to the ladies at the Seaford Martello WI for this thoughtful and exceptionally useful gift. Twiddle muffs are now a key part of our occupational therapy at Clifden House.”
