A group of residents from Sunrise of Bagshot care home recently spent time at Sebastian’s Action Trust’s family outreach centre – The Woodlands – filling sweet cones in preparation for the charity’s Christmas Market on 7th December.
Sebastian’s Action Trust provides emotional, social and practical support to 528 families of seriously ill children living in Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
A lovely group of five residents at Sunrise of Bagshot, along with team members, put together sweet cones which will be sold on one of the many stalls that will feature at the first Christmas Market to take place at the charity’s Crowthorne facility.
The care home’s visit to The Woodlands in Upper Broadmoor Road was part of Sunrise Senior Living UK’s ‘Live with Purpose’ programme. This is a seven-point programme which encourages residents to use their mind, body and soul through various activities including theatre and shopping trips; coffee outings; river boat rides; and generally getting out and about in the community.
Jane Gates OBE, Sebastian’s Action Trust’s CEO, said: “We were delighted to welcome visitors from Sunrise Senior Living UK to The Woodlands. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, it is a particularly busy time for our charity and we are making lots of preparations for our first Christmas Market. Any support we receive from volunteers in getting ready for any of our events is always such a big help. It was a pleasure welcoming residents and staff from Sunrise of Bagshot and we hope they enjoyed the morning.”
Melanie Grigg, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Bagshot, said: “Residents had the most amazing day with Sebastian’s Action Trust. Thank you to the team there for having us. We look forward to supporting the Trust again soon.”
