Amrit Dhaliwal, Chief Executive of nationwide home care service Walfinch, has accepted an invitation to join other care leaders on the Care Innovation Summit Advisory Board.
"I'm delighted, because I believe that co-operation among care leaders is exactly what's needed to transform the care sector into the more visible and powerful force that it should be," said Amrit.
The aim of the advisory board is to drive change and support the sector. "I'm looking forward to discussing all the issues that the care sector faces, including recruitment and retention and new technology, with the other 15 members.
"I firmly believe that, acting together, care leaders can create greater awareness of the importance of care, especially among our national policymakers. Acting in concert we stand a better chance of getting a greater hearing from governments and local authorities, which will ultimately benefit our clients and our businesses, so the whole of our society benefits."
Membership of the advisory board means meeting online three times a year, and Amrit will be invited to attend conferences and events about the future of the care industry, including the Future of Care Leaders Conference, regional care roadshows and the Dementia Summit, held at the King's Fund in London on 10 September 2024. He will also be invited to the new Care Innovation Summit event, to be held in June 2025.
Amrit has already written a blog post for the Care Innovation Summit website about how to elevate the care profession. It sets out ways to boost the image of carers and the industry as a whole, through providing more training and highlighting career prospects for carers, and care providers getting together to publicise the value of the care sector. "It includes calls for care leaders to act in co-operation to meet these goals, which is why I am so pleased to be involved in the Care Innovation Summit Advisory Board," he says.
Other care sector leaders on the advisory board include Nadra Ahmed CBE DL, Co-chair of the the National Care Association, Jan Burns MBE, Chair of the National Dignity Council, Vic Rayner, OBE, Executive Director of the National Care Forum, and Melanie Weatherley MBE, Chief Executive of Walnut Care at Home. It also includes a wide range of leaders from the care home and home care sectors.
The summit and events are organised by Broadway Events, with the aim of ensuring that its events can better support and drive change in the care sector.
