The Care Workers Charity has announced that its incredibly popular Writing Competition is back, and better than ever before.
CEO of The Care Workers’ Charity, Karolina Gerlich, said: “At the Care Workers’ Charity, our social care workforce is at the heart of everything we do and it is important to us that we share stories from within the sector. As 2021 starts to draw to a close, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who works in social care, who give their all to positively shape people’s lives – and to give them the opportunity to make their voices heard. Our annual Writing Competition gives the platform to you, our UK social care workforce, to share your experiences. Last year’s competition saw the CWC Team receive an unprecedented number of entries, and we hope to see even more this time around.
“The theme of this year’s Writing Competition is ‘Community’. Throughout the pandemic the strong bonds of communities have been highlighted, as people shared their kindness and supported one another. We want to hear your stories, poems, a day in the life commentary that reflects ‘Community’. The theme could cover anything and everything – from the care community you belong to with your social care colleagues, to the social care community at large, and the community of your local area. Taking part in the Writing Competition is a great way to think about what ‘Community’ means to you, so let your imagination go wild.
“The top three entries will not only get their submissions published on the Care Workers’ Charity website; they will also win prize money. First place will win £250 and the two runners up receive £125, as well as stationary from Staedtler. All winners will also have their submissions read out by three Charity Ambassadors; Kenny Doughty (ITV’s Vera), Rochenda Sandall (BBC’s Line of Duty) and Bradley James (BBC’s Merlin).
“We are thrilled to have the support of The Care Umbrella, who are generously donating the prize money which will go the winners. Staedtler have also kindly donated some amazing stationary kits. We would like to thank both organisations, and our brilliant Charity Ambassadors, for their kindness in supporting the event.”
This year’s Competition opens on 1 November 2021, with entries closing on 30 November 2021. You can email your entry to info@thecwc.org.uk, send it via the Care Workers' Charity socials, or submit using the form on the events page on the website.
