Joanne Balmer BEM, Chief Executive Officer of Oakland Care, has been honoured for her unwavering commitment to the care sector after being named as the ESG Champion at HealthInvestor’s Power Fifty Awards.
The awards are highly sought after, with members of the care sector submitting nominations to recognise the industry’s most influential leaders across six key areas.
On this occasion, Joanne Balmer was named the inaugural winner of the newly introduced ESG Champion award, honouring an individual who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to deliver positive change on environmental, social and governance issues in the sector.
Since joining Oakland Care in August 2019, Joanne has successfully navigated the care home provider through the Covid-19 pandemic, overseen the opening of new care homes, and helped pioneer Oakland Care’s sustainability agenda. She received a British Empire Medal in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to social care during Covid-19.
Reflecting on her award, Joanne Balmer BEM said: “I am extremely honoured to receive this award which represents not only a huge personal success, but is also a testament to the industry-leading efforts of all those I work alongside at Oakland Care.
