NATIONWIDE STAFFING CRISIS LEADS CARE PROVIDER TO OFFER WELCOME BONUS

A Cambridge-based private care provider, the only one in Cambridgeshire to be accredited to the Living Wage Foundation, has issued an urgent appeal for 10 members of staff and is offering a cash bonus to new recruits.

Eaton Homecare in Waterbeach is looking for full and part-time staff in and around Cambridge. The care provider is offering a welcome bonus of up to £1,000 to successful applicants along with above average pay and flexible working hours.

Caroline Freeman of Eaton Homecare said: “There’s never been a greater demand for our services but unfortunately we simply can’t find carers to fill the roles, no matter how hard we try. We are not alone. This is a nationwide staffing crisis.

“Our sector has always been under-staffed and we consistently struggle to recruit. However, Brexit and Covid-19 have further impacted on the care industry, meaning it is even more difficult to fill positions.

“That is why Eaton Homecare, a Living Wage Foundation employer, is offering an increased bonus to anyone who joins our team. We also ensure our staff are paid a higher rate of pay for all the time they are on duty, not just the time they are delivering care.”

Training and uniform will be provided for the roles and no experience in the care sector is necessary.

Duties include preparing meals for elderly clients, providing personal care and companionship, and help with medication.  These roles would suit those either looking to follow a new career path or a retiree who wants to work in a caring environment.

Caroline continued: “Our staff provide a vital and rewarding role, helping to keep people out of hospital and enjoy a level of independence in their own homes, relieving pressure on the NHS in doing so.”
