Grey Matter Learning celebrated for service to social care

Learntech company Grey Matter Learning won in the Workforce Development category at the Social Care Premier Supplier Awards, held at the London Hilton Bankside Hotel on 12 October.

For the last 15 years, Grey Matter Learning (GML) have prided themselves on being at the heart of the training landscape for the social care sector. And now, having built up an impressive customer base of over 3,000 care providers which includes the likes of Age UK, Bluebird Care, Brothers of Charity and Autism Together, GML have once again been celebrated for their commitment to the care sector, and their genuine desire to help tackle the recruitment and retention crisis within it.

A customer-focused approach, responsive course creation in line with industry needs and an eLearning platform which is affordable and accessible are just some of the reasons given for Grey Matter Learning’s win.

As part of their award submission, GML turned to some impressive customer feedback that demonstrates their impact. For example, Age UK commented: “From a Quality and Compliance point of view, [working with GML] gives us more confidence that our partners’ teams are more competent in their roles.” Over 80% of Age UK’s partners with regulated services use Click and it’s been noted that they see the benefits.”

Another customer, Care Providers Voice, noted the recruitment and retention benefits of working with GML, commenting that: “By identifying staff for the future and current workforce that we want to develop (and by investing in them), we have manged to retain some great staff, and they have progressed within the organisation.”

The impressive customer feedback and vast user numbers were enough to convince the judges of the company’s worthiness for the award. Having seen more than 1.2m courses completed via their eLearning platform Click between August 2022 and July 2023, and 22 new courses developed and launched within the past 12 months, GML are pioneers for eLearning solutions.

Commercial Director for Grey Matter Learning, Phil Hitchcox said: “We are delighted and incredibly humbled to win this award. We do what we do because each of our team have a genuine desire to support the care sector, so to be recognised for what we love doing is just incredible.

“Grey Matter Learning have been on a significant growth journey over the past two years, but despite this growth, our customer-focused approach remains front and centre of everything we do. From the new courses we create, to the developments of our eLearning platform, everything is in response to what our customers and the wider sector tell us they need.

“Social care is an increasingly important sector, which is underfunded and undervalued by many, but our training offers an affordable solution for providers and professionals alike, helping to equip those working in the sector with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications they need to practice competently. This award isn’t just for us, it’s for each of our customers who buy into and value what we do.”

Grey Matter Learning has recently enhanced its offer further by launching a new wave of leadership and management courses for the social care sector. This suite of courses is designed to support care providers to nurture their future leaders, thus further addressing the recruitment and retention crisis within the sector.
