pladis, the global snacking company behind some of the UK’s most loved and iconic brands including McVitie’s and Jacob’s, has teamed up with Nutrition & Hydration Week (14-20 June 2021) to challenge care operators across the UK to help break the organisation’s record for the UK’s biggest virtual afternoon tea party.
The afternoon tea party will take place on 16th June 2021 to align with Nutrition & Hydration Week’s Global Tea Party and the aim is to have more than 200 afternoon tea parties, running simultaneously on the day. All participants will be entered into a free prize draw to be in with a chance of winning one of ten fantastic hampers full of biscuit goodies.
The challenge forms part of a larger McVitie’s Tasties Biggest Afternoon Tea Challenge activities pack, a free resource designed to bring even more happiness to care homes and hospitals. The packs, which contain puzzles, games, nutrition and hydration information as well as the full afternoon tea challenge details, can be downloaded here
Scott Snell, Vice President Sales, UK & Ireland, pladis, said: “The idea behind the collaboration is to raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition and hydration in care homes and hospitals. At the same time, we want to help residents and patients feel happy and connected, and we can’t wait to see a record number of people enjoying a virtual afternoon tea on 16 June.
“We were thrilled with the level of engagement in our McVitie’s Tasties biscuit decorating competition last year and we want to continue to support care homes and healthcare professionals.”
Andy Jones from Nutrition & Hydration Week, added : “We are excited to be working together with pladis to create the UK’s biggest virtual afternoon tea party. Nutrition & Hydration Week aims to create energy, focus and fun to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in health and social care. The afternoon tea challenge is a great way to engage residents and patients – and to have a bit of fun.
“We’d love it if care givers could share photos of their tea parties on social media using the hashtag #NHW2021 and tweeting them to us @NHWeek.”
Care home and health care operators wishing to take part should email mcvities@williammurray.co.uk with photos of their afternoon tea, and they will automatically be entered into the prize draw.
