Teddy the miniature donkey paid a visit to a Hartlepool care home during their Strawberry Garden Party.
The four-legged visitor was a hit with residents at Queens Meadow Care Home, who were thrilled to meet him, stroke his furry coat and feed him biscuits.
They had previously held a fundraiser for the visit from Blackberry Donkeys sanctuary, in Dalton Piercy.
Resident Rita Hick said: “I thought the afternoon was great. Meeting Teddy was a treat, as I don’t get the chance to see many donkeys, and I loved feeding him with a ginger biscuit.”
The visit was part of the home’s Strawberry Garden Party, which celebrated the first fruit harvest of the year.
Entertainment was provided by singer Yvonne Slater, who performed classic hits from the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
Debbie Wilkes, Activities Coordinator at Queens Meadow Care Home, on Stockton Road, said: “The afternoon was a great success and everyone enjoyed it – both the staff and residents.
“Having Teddy in was wonderful, especially seeing how happy it made the residents.”
