STRICTLY’S FLAVIA DANCES WITH CARE HOME BALLROOM GROUP

Strictly's Flavia Visits Care Home

A ballroom dance group from a Nottingham care home hit the dance floor recently, with Strictly Come Dancing’s Flavia Cacace helping to perfect their moves.

Residents from Fairway View in Bulwell have been dancing together for six months. Formed by carer Judy Sherwood, the group took to the dance floor to perform at the opening of Ideal Carehomes’ latest home, Woodthorpe Lodge, in Loughborough. The group performed a waltz in front of visitors, including guest of honour Flavia, and were then lucky enough to get some top dance tips from the former Strictly star herself.

Mavis Wood, resident at Fairway View, said: “We’ve been working really hard over the past few months to perfect our performance and have absolutely loved dancing to some of our favourite songs. It really brings back memories from yesteryear and it’s also a great way of keeping active. There are a lot of Strictly fans at Fairway View, so getting to dance with Flavia herself was the icing on the cake.”

Judy Sherwood, carer at Fairway View, added: “Our ballroom sessions are a brilliant way for our residents to keep fit whilst doing something they love. There are a few movers and shakers at Fairway View who are big Strictly Come Dancing fans so, when we heard Flavia was in town, we jumped at the chance to perform for her. She seemed to really enjoy the performance and even took a spin on the dance floor with them, leaving them with memories they will treasure. Thank you, Flavia.”
