STRICTLY’S FLAVIA CACACE OPENS NEW BICESTER CARE HOME

During the virtual ceremony, Flavia (left) gave a speech whilst resident Joyce (right) cut the ribbon on Flavia's behalf.

One care group proved that nothing can stop them, as they held a virtual grand opening for its latest care home, complete with a celebrity guest.

Launton Grange care home, operated by Ideal Carehomes, held its official grand opening ceremony, with the help of guest of honour- Strictly Come Dancing star, Flavia Cacace.

The care home, located on Skimmingdish Lane in Bicester, has created over 30 jobs for local people during its first phase of recruitment and will provide a home for 66 people.

To celebrate the launch of the luxurious home, residents and their friends and families, as well as the local community, were invited to join the Launton Grange team ‘live’ on Facebook to safely watch the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Professional dancer Flavia gave a heart-warming speech, before she officially announced Launton Grange as open whilst Joyce Teat, the first resident at the home, cut the ribbon on her behalf.

Flavia said: “It is a pleasure to be asked to officially open Launton Grange in Bicester. It is so wonderful to see the support and person-centred care provided for residents so they are able to continue with their pastimes. I know for sure there is lots of dancing going on and I am sorry I cannot be there in person to join in.”

95-year-old resident Joyce Teat said: “In recent years, I have needed a little more help to do the things I love and, over the UK’s first lockdown, I began to feel very lonely and started looking into care options. I fell in love with Launton Grange and knew this is where I wanted to live, from the staff, activities and delicious food, I couldn’t be happier and I feel like I have my freedom back!”

Home Manager Anne Measures said: “I have been extremely excited to finally declare our beautiful home officially open! It was a pleasure to virtually meet Flavia - we all love watching the dancing in our cinema room. Our team have already welcomed their first resident, Joyce, who is settling in brilliantly and I look forward to welcoming more new faces to our home and helping them life live to the full.”
