Fun-loving staff and residents at a Stourbridge care home have raised vital funds to ensure residents can have days out and take part in community events.
 
High Lodge Care Home, in Iverley, held its annual Summer Fete for their residents’ activity fund – raising £514 through a tombola, craft stalls, raffles and face painting for children.

The popular summer event also saw residents and their families unveiling a specially commissioned owl wood carving in the home’s gardens with local singer Tom Wenlock rounding off the day by singing a variety of hits from the 50s and 60s.

The animal wood carving, carved on site, will hopefully be joined by a horse carving next summer as the home continues to bring its garden to life.

Care Home Manager Patricia Stevenson said: “Our Summer Fete is always a popular event and this was one of our best yet with families and people from the local community also joining us.

“The fete is another way for us to raise funds to help residents go on lots of outings and take part in a huge variety of activities. To raise over £500 is fantastic and I’d like to thank everyone who came along to enjoy the day.”

Set in four acres of grounds, High Lodge is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide residential care for up to 29 residents.

Most residents live at High Lodge permanently, however the home also provides short stay accommodation for those in need of respite care or convalescent facilities for those recovering from an operation or illness.
