Care home provider Oakland Care have been recognised for their environmental and sustainability credentials once again after winning a Green World Environment Award from the Green Organisation.
Launched in 1994, the international environmental group established the awards to reward and promote environmental best practices around the globe. They are also supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management, and other independent bodies.
On this occasion, Oakland Care won the Green World Environment Award as part of The Green Organisation’s global campaign to find the world’s greenest countries, companies, and communities. This follows competition against more than 500 other nominations in the Green World Awards for Environmental Best Practice.
A huge achievement, this title carries even more significance with Oakland Care becoming the first and only care home provider to have ever achieved the accolade in the world. As a result of this they will be presented with their trophy and certificate at a glittering presentation ceremony in Miami, USA in April.
Oakland Care have also been invited to become Green World Ambassadors and will have their winning entry paper published in ‘The Green Book’, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice. This will allow others around the world to follow their example and learn from their sustainability successes.
