OAKLAND CARE CELEBRATES ITS HOUSEKEEPERS

Oakland Care celebrate housekeepers with ‘clean team’ takeover

The Housekeeping team at Oakland Care’s Elmbrook Court care home in Wantage, Oxfordshire, have been surprised with an extra paid day off as part of a celebration of their continued hard work and dedication.

Elmbrook Court’s Head Housekeeper, Jadwiga Szacka, received recognition as a finalist at a national care award. To celebrate Jadwiga’s success and her colleagues’ continued efforts over the course of the last year, senior team members at Elmbrook Court and its long-term supply partners, Careshop and My Purchasing Partner (MPP), joined forces for a cleaning takeover of the care home. A team of 12 volunteers got stuck into a deep clean of the care home ahead of Christmas in their place.

Jadwiga Szacka, Head Housekeeper at Elmbrook Court, said: “It was such a pleasant surprise for me and the team to be given the day off. It’s wonderful to know that our contribution is recognised by our colleagues, and we’re incredibly grateful to those who stepped into our role and helped in getting the care home ready for the festive period – you certainly did a good job!

Malcolm Hague, Director of Operations at Oakland Care, said: “It was fantastic to not only celebrate Jadgwiga’s award recognition, but the efforts of her whole team at Elmbrook Court. This a nice way of giving something back and rewarding them for their incredible hard work behind the scenes. Thank you to those volunteers from our long-term partners at Careshop and MPP who joined the clean team on the day.”
