Fish and chip lovers came together at Great Oaks care home in Bournemouth, to celebrate National Fish and Chip Day with a tasty lunch.
To support this national day, on Friday 1st June, the catering team at the Bournemouth-based care home prepared a fish and chip supper for residents, their families and friends. Everyone was treated to freshly battered fish, chips and mushy peas.
Great Oaks hosts a fish and chips lunch club on the last Friday of every month, where residents’ families, friends and the community are invited to come along to the care home and enjoy a delicious fish and chip supper for only £2.50 per person.
Ian MacDonald, Home Manager, said: “We had a lovely day celebrating National Fish and Chip Day on Friday. There are a lot of fish and chip lovers in the home, as it reminds them of fond memories of trips to the seaside.
“National Fish and Chip Day has become one of the most celebrated days in the country’s culinary calendar so it made sense to join in the celebrations. As well as it being an excuse for everyone to tuck into one of Britain’s favourite dishes, it was also a great way to bring everyone together. Our residents love welcoming visitors and meeting our neighbours, so we really appreciate the continued support we receive for our monthly lunches.”
