Staff at Ash Tree House care home in Wigan have been recognised amongst the best of the North West’s social care workers by reaching the finals of the regional Great British Care Awards.
The care team have scooped two finalist nominations across the Care Newcomer and Cook/Chef award categories. The finalists have been nominated by colleagues, residents, relatives or professionals and are selected by a team of judges from their region. Each nomination is a testament to the team’s dedication to their role, providing person-centred care for their residents.
The purpose of the Great British Care Awards is to pay tribute to those individuals in the care sector who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. The finalists will attend a virtual meeting in November where they will be interviewed by several judges who themselves work within the care sector. The results will be announced at a regional gala dinner in April with the winners securing a place at the national awards.
Care Assistant and ‘Newcomer of the Year’ finalist Stacey Haseldon said: “To have joined the Ash Tree House team in May, during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic and brand new to care, and still be recognised for my work is truly very touching. I have loved every minute of my new role. Even when there are challenges, we have rallied together as a team to lift each other up and support our residents to the fullest. Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”
Finalist in the Care Home Cook/Chef category Lindsey Bentley said: ‘‘I am delighted to have been selected as a finalist in this year’s Great British Care Awards. To be recognised for my role within the home is very touching. I believe that the needs of our residents are paramount and, as a team, we always put them first in everything that we do.”
Home Manager Chris Durnan said: “It is wonderful to see so many of my team be selected as finalists this year and I would like to thank each one of our brilliant Ash Tree House staff for their dedication to their roles, especially over the last few months. I wish everyone the best of luck for their interviews.”
Ash Tree House is operated by Ideal Carehomes and recently achieved a ‘Good’ rating for a second time by the Care Quality Commission.
