CARE GROUP DETERMINED TO PREVENT LONELINESS DESPITE VISIT RESTRICTIONS

Tony Stein, Chief Executive of HCMS.

Healthcare Management Solutions (HCMS) has introduced coronavirus prevention measures, alongside a scheme to ensure residents aren’t affected by social isolation.

After announcing the suspension of non-essential visits to its care homes, Healthcare Management Solutions has launched a campaign nationwide to ensure its homes’ links with the local communities are protected.

Tony Stein, Chief Executive of HCMS, said: “The safety and wellbeing of our residents is absolutely our top priority, so we have taken the decision that only family, medical professionals and essential maintenance contractors will be permitted to enter our facilities until further notice.

“During the period of reduced external activity in the homes due to the coronavirus outbreak, we are determined that our residents should continue to be able to enjoy the strong links our facilities have with local communities.

“At HCMS, we work tirelessly to ensure that our care homes are integral to the communities in which they sit and that our residents continue to be active and engaged citizens.”

The company is inviting local people to email messages and photos of their activities to homes in their area, helping residents keep a foot in the community for when restrictions are lifted.

In response to the spread of COVID-19, HCMS has initiated a suite of measures to protect its staff and residents including:

•Restricting access to its care facilities for all but family, medical professionals and essential maintenance contractors.

•Increased domestic hours during the outbreak period to give the cleaning teams more time to make absolutely sure homes are infection-free.

•Enforcing hand sanitisation station use.

•Routine deep cleaning.

•Encouraging regular handwashing for staff and residents.

•Making sure all staff are aware of symptoms to look out for in colleagues and residents.

•Developing video call capabilities, in the event that homes ultimately need to self-isolate.
