CARE HOME MANAGER BRAVES THE SHAVE FOR MACMILLAN

Caroline Price, Home Manager at HC-One’s Meadowlands Care Home in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, has shaved her head to raise awareness and over £1200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Caroline Price, Home Manager at HC-One’s Meadowlands Care Home in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, has shaved her head to raise awareness and over £1200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Macmillan is one of Britain’s largest charities, providing advice and support for those affected by cancer. Their Brave the Shave campaign encourages people to stand proudly beside men and women with cancer by shaving their hair off. So far this year, over 7000 people have braved the shave, raising over £900,000 for the charity.

Caroline was chosen as one of eight volunteers to travel to London on 2nd August for a special promotional photoshoot for the campaign, shot by renowned British portrait and fashion photographer Rankin.

Caroline and the other volunteers fulfilled their pledge and shaved their heads, whilst Rankin captured the before, during and after on film. The volunteers were interviewed about their lives, and what had motivated them to take part in Macmillan’s Brave the Shave campaign.

Caroline was able to raise a whopping £1241.40 for Macmillan through donations from friends, colleagues and the families of Residents at Meadowlands, along with other members of the local community who chipped in to support Caroline’s cause.

For Caroline, the issue was particularly pertinent as one of the residents she helps provide care for at Meadowlands Care Home is a cancer sufferer. She was, therefore, keen to do her bit in the battle to beat cancer and to show solidarity with those living with the disease.

HC-One Meadowlands Care Home Manager, Caroline Price, said: “I feel proud and humbled to have been able to do my bit for Macmillan Cancer Support. This is an issue that is close to my heart, and I wanted to show my support for those suffering from cancer.

“It was a nerve-wracking experience, but I am pleased to have done it! Being invited to take part in this special promotional photo shoot made it all the more exciting.”

HC-One's Managing Director, Liz Whyte, said: “We are delighted to see Caroline raising awareness for such an important cause, championing HC-One’s values of kindness and compassion.”
