Windsor Court care home, based in Wetherby, is offering people in its local area the opportunity to design their official 2020 Christmas card and be in with a chance of winning a luxury Christmas hamper.
The competition encourages people from the Yorkshire area to draw, paint or even photograph a design for a Christmas card, in line with a poignant ‘Caring This Christmas’ theme.
The Wetherby residents will judge the entries during a glittering Christmas card gallery evening, where three finalists will be selected for a public vote over on their Facebook page. The cards will then be printed, ready to send to relatives and friends.
85-year-old resident Brian Green said: “With everything that is going on with the current pandemic, I think it is fantastic that the team have come up with such a fun and creative idea to spread some Christmas joy around the community. I can’t wait to see all of the submissions and help to pick our winner!”
Lifestyle Manager and driving force for the competition, Kirsty Watson, said: “It is more important now than ever to get into the community Christmas spirit, and this is such a lovely activity to do at home with the kids. Our team and residents have officially joined the ‘hype’ and put our tree and Santa’s grotto decorations up early this year, so I can’t wait to begin the festive season activities, starting with handwriting our official cards to our residents’ loved ones!”
The closing date for the contest is the 3rd of December and all submissions can be sent directly to the Sandbeck Way home, with a note detailing the artist’s name, age and what they think ‘Caring at Christmas’ means to them.
