Once upon a time...Broadway Halls Care Home held a magical storytelling day to bring different generations together to enjoy sharing their favourite books.
On 14th February, Broadway Halls Care Home in Dudley celebrated the magic of storytelling and held an enchanted day full of tall tales, fiction and fantasy. Residents were joined by pupils from Kates Hill Primary School who brought along their favourite books and delighted our residents by reading to them.
The jam-packed day was also attended by family and friends, as well as a rather dashing pirate, a magnificent Queen of Hearts from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and a friendly faun, Mr Tumnus, from The Chronicles of Narnia books. The three characters, who were played by Activities Coordinators Matt, Julie and Nicky, brought some of our favourite books to life and saw memories flooding back.
Julie Parkes, Activities Coordinator, said “Everyone had a wonderful time revisiting some of their favourite books and discovering new ones. The children from Kates Hill Primary School shared their favourite stories with us and we loved reminiscing about books that had caught our imagination in our childhood.”
We also shared our recommendations for books we have recently enjoyed reading and this story’s last words come courtesy of our resident Mary who said: “For some reason it surprises people that I have read all of the Fifty Shades of Grey books, the first book at least five times! It’s a bit naughty but if you like it then read it!”
