Every year, Bluebird Care Rushmoor & Surrey Heath and Bluebird Care Guildford & Waverley take their customers to Wisley Gardens and treat them to afternoon tea.
With Covid-19 restrictions, the home care provider was unable to do this and instead decided to bring the afternoon tea to their customers. Bluebird Care’s office team were involved in the preparation of boxes filled with scones, jam and cream, and personally delivered them to customer’s houses. They ensured safe delivery by maintaining social distancing guidelines and wearing PPE where necessary.
Across Bluebird Care’s Surrey offices, they delivered 70 afternoon tea boxes. Bluebird Care asked their customers to cast a vote for which scones they preferred, Cornish or Devon style.
One Bluebird Care customer, Patricia, said: “I would like to thank all those involved with the afternoon tea. It was presented nicely in the box and the contents were very enjoyable.”
Jade Grigg, Care Manager at Bluebird Care Rushmoor & Surrey Health and Bluebird Care Guildford & Waverley, said: “Our popular annual summer event for our customers is a trip to Wisley Garden for afternoon tea, although this year these plans were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our customers look forward to and very much enjoy this event every year, so we decided on an alternative, home-based afternoon tea by involving our customers in the nation’s biggest debate – How do you prepare your scones? Vote for Devon or Cornish way!
“Over 90 home-made scones were baked, paired with cream, jam and a cloth napkin, beautifully presented in a box, with over 70 afternoon tea boxes hand-delivered to our customers across Surrey by our office support team. We would like to thank our bakers and all those who participated in the preparation and delivery of the afternoon tea.
“And just in case you were wondering … The Cornish way won!”
